Blanchard, Louisiana is a small town in Northwest Louisiana. The original Blanchard settlement began shortly after the railroad was laid through the area by Kansas City Southern Railway Company in 1895. The Village of Blanchard officially came into existence in 1896. Blanchard was given its name to honor Senator Newton Crain Blanchard, who later became governor of Louisiana. Blanchard is located about ten miles north of Shreveport. Just minutes away from malls, movies, etc., but still far enough out to enjoy the peace and quiet of country life.
