I. Hours/Holidays
First Baptist Child Development Center will be open from 6am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. The following holidays are observed by our center:

New Year's Eve
New Year's Day
Good Friday
Independence Day
Memorial Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day

If the holiday falls on a weekend, an alternate day will be chosen and posted.

*If the Caddo Parish Public Schools in the immediate are closed due to inclement weather, the center will also be closed. The lack of utilities or any hazardous situation may, also, cause closure. Normal charges will apply.

II. Registration
Children are accepted from six (6) weeks to twelve (12) years of age. A space is reserved for your child if an opening is available, at which time the registration fee is due. If an opening is not available, you may place your child on the waiting list. Each child attending the Center must pay an annual registration fee. This is a non-refundable fee, except in the event a family is moving from the area before the child begins attending the center.

First Baptist Child Development Center prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, creed sex, national origin, handicapping conditions, ancestry, or against infants who are breast fed.

Open House for Preschool A Beka Registration will be held in May of each year. The registration fee and book and supply fee for the two, three, and four year old A Beka programs will be due at the time of enrollment.

III. Drop-In Policy
Drop-ins will be accepted by appointment only, when space is available, and will not be accepted between the hours of 12:30pm and 2:30pm. When A Beka classes are in session, NO preschool drop-in will be accepted between 8:30am and 2:30pm

*Fees must be paid on the day of services. Master card and Health card are required for each child.

IV. Attendance/Absences
Our policy requires that you bring your child into the center, wash their hands and sign them in on the daily attendance sheet. We also require that you sign your child out at the end of the day.

The Louisiana State Department of Health and Human Services has made the hand washing of children (upon arrival) a state requirement. The First Marshall's Office has suggested that signing your child/children in and out would help us know what children we have in our care in the event of an emergency.

An advance two (2) weeks notice is required when removing your child from the center. Payment will be required, if notice is not given. Any past due balance must be paid when notice is given.

V. Tuition & Fees
Tuition for the current week is due by Wednesday of that week. If tuition is not received by 6:00pm on Wednesday, a late fee of $10.00 will be charged for the week. A Beka only tuition is due by the 10th of the month. A late fee will be charged after that date. The director cannot waive late fees. If an alternate schedule of payment needs to be arranged, it must be arranged with the Day Care Committee.

There will be a $15.00 fee for all returned checks. After the second returned check, the center has the option to refuse any future checks, at which time payment must be made by Cash or by Bank Money Order.

The hours of the center are 6:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. There will be a late pick-up fee of $1.00 per child for each minute the child is left in the center after 6:00pm.

Fees are charged for the space reserved for your child, not the days the child is present. There are no deductions for absences, sick days, or holidays.

DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS MUST BE RESOLVED WITHIN 30 DAYS OR THE CHILD WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE CENTER

VI. School-Aged Children
The center provides van service to and from a designated area (bus stop) for children attending Herndon Magnet School. We also walk children to and from Blanchard Elementary. Both services are provided for morning and afternoon delivery and pick-up of your child. If your child will be absent or will not ride the van to the center, you must notify the center. A copy of the transportation plan is available upon request.

If the child attends the center when Caddo Parish Public Schools are closed, the regular full-time rate will apply. If the child does not attend the center during this time, the regular weekly rate will apply.

VII. Health Regulations/Illnesses
A child with a fever of 101 degrees or higher will not be allowed in the center. If symptoms of a contagious or an infections disease develop when the child is in the center, the child will be placed in a supervised isolated area. The parent or guardian will be contacted immediately and arrangement will be made to pick up the child as soon as possible. No child can remain at the center for an extended length of time after exhibiting symptoms of illness. The child must be fever free for 24 hours before he/she can return to the center. An illness report will be filled out for the child and will be signed by the parent and the teacher, director, and assistant director. If a child returns before 24 hours, you will need a note from your child's physician stating that the child is free of any contagious illness.

An up-to-date medical card must be kept by the center for each child enrolled in the center. You are required to proved the center with any updated shot records whenever there is a change.

VIII. Medication
The center can only administer medication brought by the parent each day. The parent must have a signed medical release form on file before medication can be administered. Parents must sign all medications into the center each day (on the provided form) providing times and doses for all medications to be given. Each medication container must be labeled with the child's name regardless of whether the medication is prescription or over the counter.

IX. Food
Children may not bring food to the center. Adequate snacks are provided in the morning and the afternoon, in addition to a nutritious lunch. Food exceptions cannot be made for individual children except for medical reasons. Menus are posted in advance in the center and parents may refer to these at any time. A copy of the menu is available upon request.

If your child has an allergy to any food please bring this to the teacher's attention.

X. Birthday Parties & Special Occasions
Parties may be scheduled one week in advance with your child's teacher. When you wish to bring treats, snacks, etc., please notify the teacher in advance. Birthday parties are celebrated at snack time for approximately 30 minutes.

XI. Rest & Nap time
Rest time for all children (except school age children) will be from 12:30 to 2:30. We provide cots and blankets for all children. Your child is not required to sleep, however he is required to lie quietly during rest time.

XII. Clothing
Each child (except school-age children) must have a change of clothing left at the center in case of accidents. The center is not responsible for lost clothing or articles brought from home. Each item must be clearly marked with the child's name.
  • Clothing should be durable, comfortable, and washable.
  • Please do not allow your child to wear flip flops for safety and health reasons.
  • Children must be clean when brought to the center.
XIII. Toys
The center will try to provide toys and equipment in sufficient quantity to allow for a variety of play and learning activities. Children should not bring their own toys from home unless otherwise specified on special occasions.

XIV. Discipline
Our discipline policy is termed "Time Out." This is time that the child spends away from group activity. The child is always within sight of the teacher. The amount of "time out" is determined by the age of the child. (Ex: 1yr old = 1 min, 2yr old = 2 min, etc.) In addition to this, a school age child may be required to write lines. If these measures of discipline do not correct the behavior, the child's parents will be contacted for a conference.

After all disciplinary measures are exhausted, and if the child continually cannot follow the rules, fights with others, uses foul language, or strikes any member of the staff, the child will be dismissed from the center.

First Baptist Child Development Center does not use any type of corporal punishment. Cruel, severe, unusual, or unnecessary punishment is not inflicted on any child at the center. Derogatory remarks will not be made in the presence of any child concerning family members of children enrolled in the center or about another child at the center. No child or group of children are allowed to discipline another child in the center's care. A child will not be deprived of meals or any part of a meal for disciplinary reasons.

XV. Evacuation Policy
In the event of an emergency evacuation, the children and staff will be relocated to Trinity Heights Baptist Church located at 3820 Old Mooringsport Road. We will use any and all available means to relocate. After relocating, we will make every effort to contact the parents.
