AWANA is an international, nondenominational, Bible-centered youth organization providing weekday clubs and programs for 3 year-old through High Schoolers. The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of the phrase "Approved workmen are not ashamed..." (2 Timothy 2:15)

AWANA exists to reach children with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The priorities of AWANA also include reaching the parents and other family members.

In the Bible, parents are instructed to teach their children about God's way day by day. The teaching for AWANA really begins at home. Your child will not only grow in the truth of God's Word, but will also enjoy the great success in the AWANA club, if you are involved with them through the week as they learn their verses and other truths.

Requirements for Memory Work:
• The child is allowed two "helps" per section. This does not mean two helps per verse. If there are multiple verses under one section, they are allowed two helps for all of that section.
• The child must recite everything in order in that section at one time in order to receive credit.
• The child recites the verses they have learned at home to their Handbook Leader during their Club Meeting.

Attendance
Attendance achievements fall into two categories:Club attendance and Sunday School attendance.

• A club member can only have two unexcused absences during a semester to earn a special club attendance award. So they may earn two club attendance awards through the year one in the fall and one in the spring.
• The same requirement applies to Sunday School attendance. Attendance at another church is accepted.

Tips on How Parents Can Help

Help your child try to complete at least one or more sections each week. To complete the handbook in one year, a child must complete more than one section per week. Establish a regular time to work on the Sparks Gate or Handbook. Listen to your child recite the verses. Be encouraging!

Bring your child to club on time, in uniform, and with appropriate shoes for game time.
• Find a special place at home to keep you child's book and uniform.
• Be sure they bring their book and Bible with them. They are part of a team that gets points for these things. So you can help their team to win!
• Bring your child ontime to the Fellowship Hall to begin each Wednesday.

Your child is part of a team. Each team member receives points each club night for the following:
• Arriving on time
• Bringing their Bible and Handbook
• Bringing their dues (.25)
• Bringing a visitor
• Attending Sunday School
• Wearing their uniform
• And for the number of sections that are completed that week.
In turn they will use these AWANA Bucks to purchase fun items in our AWANA Store twice each year.
