What is Awana? |
|
AWANA is an international, nondenominational, Bible-centered youth organization providing weekday clubs and programs for 3 year-old through High Schoolers. The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of the phrase "Approved workmen are not ashamed..." (2 Timothy 2:15) AWANA exists to reach children with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The priorities of AWANA also include reaching the parents and other family members. In the Bible, parents are instructed to teach
their children about God's way day by day. The teaching for AWANA
really begins at home. Your child will not only grow in the truth
of God's Word, but will also enjoy the great success in the AWANA
club, if you are involved with them through the week as they learn
their verses and other truths. Attendance • A club member can only have two unexcused absences
during a semester to earn a special club attendance award. So they may
earn two club attendance awards through the year one in the fall and
one in the spring. Help your child try to complete at least one or more sections
each week. To complete the handbook in one year, a child must complete
more than one section per week. Establish a regular time to work on
the Sparks Gate or Handbook. Listen to your child recite the verses.
Be encouraging! Bring your child to club on time, in uniform, and with
appropriate shoes for game time.
